Green parenting — I heard that term for the first time a few weeks ago, and it fits my parenting style perfectly.
Green parenting is parenting that teaches about sustainability and reusing and recycling by example.
It’s teaching your kids what resources are and how limited and precious they are.
It’s talking about Earth Day (April 22, 2012) and participating in local events with your kids.
It’s teaching your child about not wasting water when brushing his teeth, it’s teaching him where the bag is we collect our paper/newspapers for recycling in, and it’s explaining to him why a blanket over him has to suffice and why I don’t warm up the car in the winter.
Green parenting is using only natural cleaners in our home – to keep my child safe from toxins and also to do my part to not add to the toxins in our environment.
Do you want to green your home and eliminate harmful and harsh cleaners? Seventh Generation make it easy.
I especially love their new Natural Laundry Stain Remover.
Let’s make sure our kids don’t ever have to live in the polluted, grim world the little boy in Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax lives.
Let’s do all we can so they grow up healthy, not exposed to toxins that can cause allergies and other health problems.
And by being green in our home, we also keep bad cleaners and detergents out of our environment.
Green parenting is a win-win.
