Today, I’m writing you from Germany, where we are visiting family and friends.

Before we left for Germany, I took pictures of a few fun items I bought at a local estate sale in our neighborhood.

The prices were awesome! I only paid about $8 for all of these items. Can you believe it? The potholder still has the price on it!

I can never have enough pretty vintage embroidered linens — I use them as hand towels in my powder room.

This blue tray is from England, I have a collection of vintage measuring cups, and the glass is perfect to make another DIY apothecary jar like this one I made.

The Royal Crown Derby posies bone china dish makes a nice trinket or soap dish.

Vintage Treasures and DIY Ideas from the Country Living Fair

As promised, here are all the pictures I took at the Country Living Fair in Rhinebeck, NY, last Friday!

Well, just a few of them, because I took about 150 pictures.

The drive up on the Taconic was beautiful again, and after an hour, I reached the fair at 11am.

And thanks to Don, who picked up Landon from the bus, I didn’t have to rush back and instead stayed until the fair closed at 5pm. Six solid hours of bliss!

If you ever see a vintage trunk for sale, buy it if it’s a good deal! bought this lovely vintage trunk coffee table a while ago, and it adds so much to the cozy decor in my living room.

I’m sharing a thrifty treasure I bought months ago at the Newburgh Vintage Emporium.

Do you remember the large vintage trunk I used as a coffee table in our living room, in front of the fireplace?

I wanted to switch that one out to a smaller table and have had my eye on this trunk with a base for many months.

I finally bought it when it went on sale for $150, which is a great deal for these two pieces.

It’s time to reveal some beautiful laundry room decorating ideas in my “My Dream Home” series!

Laundry Room Design On a Budget

All of these laundry room designs can be achieved even on a budget — all it takes is a can of paint or cool wallpaper, baskets and shelves for clever storage, colorful fabric, and some imagination.

Simply add a map to the wall and velcro a fabric scrap to the sink for extra storage space:

This room shows how much you can do with a little space: add a top to the washing machine for extra space.

I opted for front loading machines for our laundry “closet” for this exact reason: I wanted the space on the top of the machines for folding and storage. I also hung our ironing board on the wall, and Don installed shelves above the machines.

I love the color in this laundry room. A can of paint doesn’t cost much and is an easy way to update a room.

Let’s talk wallpaper! I love the idea of temporary wallpaper, which comes in handy especially in apartments and rented homes. You don’t even have to wallpaper the whole room — just wallpaper one accent wall, or just use one stripe!

Now, I don’t think those lamps are practical in a small laundry room like this, but I like the bold accent wall and the tile wall. Get a professional to drill the holes for the floating shelves into the tiles, though :)
