I haven’t told you yet about the week I test drove the Chevy Volt electric car, the best-selling plug-in car in the U.S. We are still missing this zippy car!
Being a green living advocate, I couldn’t wait to drive an electric car for the first time.
The second the Volt got dropped off at our house, I fell in love with it — the no-fuss seats that are super comfortable, the quiet drive, and the Boss speakers that are such an improvement to what I have now. And the acceleration is amazing!
The best feature of course is that you can charge the Volt for about $1.60 to get 38 miles before you switch to using regular gas.
You always have the option to use gas, so you will never get stranded if you run out of electricity, and you can travel 380 miles on a full charge and full tank of gas.
This car is equipped with the most sophisticated information panel. While you are driving, the car tells you if you are driving energy efficiently or not.
The inside of the car is so stylish and sleek. I drove the car in the rain a lot and the one thing I missed was a windshield wiper for the back window.
Landon loved the key — yet you don’t really need it to drive the Volt. You need to have it with you, but then you just push a button on the dashboard, decide if you want to use electricity or gas, and you’re on your way.
There is so much information built into the two interactive color LCD screens that I didn’t even get to see every option in a week. Information like this about the cheapest gas nearby is so convenient to have at your fingertip.
If you’re thinking of getting a new car, definitely test drive the Chevy Volt and familiarize yourself with its countless cool features. You can contact the Volt using an iPhone app and use your phone to have it start and warm up remotely. Very futuristic, right? And don’t forget the tax credit (up to $7,500 for NY residents, for example.).
I was very impressed with this electric car. If you mostly drive short distances so you can take advantage of driving it in electric mode, and/or you interested in improving your carbon footprint, the Volt is a great option.
{I was loaned a Volt for a week but did not receive any other compensation. Opinions are my own.}
