ClosetMaid Cube Organizer Adds Storage to Any Home
If you follow Dagmar’s Home, you know that we moved into the Blue Cottage 11 months ago — and that we don’t have a basement or even a shed.
And you probably also know that I’m a bit of a hoarder of vintage things and small furniture to paint and DIY supplies. So this Blue Cottage needs more storage!
ClosetMaid’s Premium Cube Organizers and Storage Bins are now available at Target, and they were nice enough to send us a 9-Cube Organizer in Dark Chestnut, plus three pretty storage bins.
It would have worked great in L’s room for more toy and Lego storage, but I decided to build it and use it in our bedroom nook that I just recently made Don’s “office.”
He deserves his own spot, and sharing the tiny office downstairs didn’t work out. Don has hundreds of books and I want to find a way to display most of them eventually.
Putting together the cube organizer by myself wasn’t hard and took me about half an hour.
Only one part would have been easier to do with another person, when you have to put the top part together with the four sidewalls. It took me a few minutes but I finally got all of the six screws into the top at the same time.
A couple of tips: make sure you are putting the nails for the back panel in the middle of the sides panel edge as described or you risk cracking part of the edge of the boards.
And make sure you are putting in the little round screws that lock some of the screws in place the right side up, with the cross showing on the top. I don’t think there is a way to remove those again once you sink those into the hole the wrong way.
I’m really pleased with the extra storage. The color of the organizer is similar to our wood floor, which looks great.
That makeshift “desk” might not stay there, but for now it works. And we need pictures on the walls in the nook, but I have been putting it off because I need to find the time to create a nice gallery wall on that wall.
Where in your home would you use your ClosetMaid cube organizer?
