Children’s Book Collage on Canvas
Do you have a children’s book lying around?
Then consider making a children’s book collage on a canvas with it!
Repurposing a kids book is a simple way to personalize your children’s room.
You could also preserve one of your children’s favorite book. I bet they would treasure this art piece for a long time.
I collect vintage children’s books because I adore the old-fashioned illustrations.
When I see them in thrift stores and buy them for a dollar or less, my initial idea is always to tear out my favorite pages and frame them for Landon’s room.
I had another idea for repurposing a children’s book: I made a canvas collage out of a vintage children’s book for my son’s room.
It’s super easy, and you can make it with any book you want to preserve for your child, new or vintage.
I use a vintage Little Toot book.
Children’s Book Collage Supplies:
- children’s book
- Mod Podge glue (mat or glossy, depending on your preference)
- sponge brush
- canvas
Children’s Book Collage Tutorial:
I had this canvas that I had painted blue and didn’t like, so I simply repurposed it for this project.
The first thing I did was tear apart the pages of the Little Toot book I was using. I wanted the edges to not be perfect.
Then I arranged the pieces on the canvas until I liked the placement of them and how they overlapped.
I grabbed my Mod Podge Glue and paint brush, and put a bit of the glue on a paper plate next to the canvas, on the floor.
Then I started to glue down all the pieces. I took the top left piece off the canvas, put glue on the canvas, and put down the piece I wanted in that corner.
After placing down the next few pieces next to the first piece, I sealed what I had done so far by adding another coat of glue to the top of the page pieces.
I kept working on every piece of page I put down like that until they were all glued down and let the whole canvas dry. Then I covered the whole canvas with another coat of glue.
And that’s all it took to make this colorful children’s book collage on canvas!
