Dress up your cupcakes with this adorable Nutcracker Cupcake Kit!
First of all — Happy Memorial Day!
I decorated our Blue Cottage with some flags and a cute America banner I found at Target.
I hope you are having a wonderful day where you are.
You know me – I love showing you what I scored lately in a thrift store or at a tag sale. I love finding inexpensive decor for my house!
Here are my thrifty finds: the mason jar has a great top for something that smells lovely, the cup with the lighthouse is for toothbrushes, and the pumpkin candle will be great for fall.
I picked up this little chest for Landon so he can paint it, and you can never have enough note pads and thank you notes. I found them all at one tag sale, and paid only 25¢ for most of the items.
The Nutcracker cupcake set was on clearance at HomeGoods. Aren’t they adorable?
I can’t wait to make cute cupcakes with these!

Do you take advantage of rewards cards that are offered by your favorite stores or restaurants?
You should! If you don’t, it’s like throwing money out of the window.
I’m super frugal. I always want to find the best deal for everything.
As a result, I save thousands — yes, thousands — of dollars every years.
One way I do that is by using reward cards.
I regularly get free food, free coffee, and all kinds of other deals for my family.
I want to encourage you to take advantage of rewards cards because they are free.
The emphasis is on “free” – make sure you don’t have to sign up for another credit card, for example a Target credit card, which gives you 5 percent off your purchases.
Who doesn’t like extra money?
I’m very frugal when it comes to certain things, and I don’t mind cutting coupons or using rewards cards because it frees up money for something special or fancy, like a weekend getaway or a new laptop.
I named our house the Blue Cottage for a reason.
I called it a cottage because it’s small. Not Manhattan apartment small, but small because there’s three of us and we happen to have a lot of things that need to fit into a house.
Okay, so I’m a bit of a furniture and home decor hoarder. And boxes full of vintage dishes, DIY supplies, interior design magazines, every letter and card I’ve received in the last 20 years, and Landon’s first clothes.
Plus, between the three of us we probably own 400 books.
I love our house, but it doesn’t have a basement or a garage — not even a shed. And Don being a finish carpenter and contractor, he doesn’t have space for all of his saws, tools, and supplies.
Things were always piling up on our porch, to the point where I installed curtains to keep the rain off of all the things that were stored there so they wouldn’t get ruined.
Since we moved in 2 1/2 years ago, I couldn’t wait to get a shed. [Read more…]
