It’s that time of year again — for my Blue Cottage Christmas home tour. Let me show you my cozy little house all decorated for the holidays.

A few weeks ago I finally got this chandelier installed in my living room. It’s an inexpensive, simple farmhouse chandelier that I bought about a year ago and exactly what I wanted for this space.

The best part – it’s on a dimmer, so I can create the kind of lighting I want.

I added this ceiling medallion to the chandelier, which is such an easy upgrade.

As you can see, I have a long living room with a dining table and fireplace on one side and a sofa and the TV on the other side.

Here you can see where I hung the farmhouse sign I bought at the Country Living Fair this year — over my front door.

Like every year, my son got to set up the German angel orchestra we collect, and my mom sent him a new one he’s wanted: the piano player.

When I was growing up, we had the same orchestra, and it was always my favorite part of Christmas decorating to set it up.

It’s a lovely tradition I brought over to the U.S., and one day I hope my son will enjoy watching his kids set them up.

That golden wreath is a new addition — I saw it at Target and knew it would be perfect for my easy cottage Christmas decor this year.

That little scale is a tag sale find — it’s from Italy and only cost me a dollar.

This year’s centerpiece is a simple gold and white tray from Target with big ornaments I bought at HomeGoods. The tablecloth with handwriting is from Amazon.

Last year, I created a tablescape with all of my bottlebrush trees, and this year I collected all of my trees and assembled them on the mantel.

Those faux fur stockings are the cutest – I found them inexpensively at Target, but you can find similar ones on Amazon.

Those vintage candlesticks are from the same tag sale as the scale — they also just set me back a dollar.

Deciding how to decorate the Christmas tree was easy this year — I found blush ornaments at Big Lots and stocked up. I wanted a new tree skirt, and I bought the perfect one from Amazon: ruffles, vintage looking, and unique.

I always have fun decorating this little while shelf.

I have a thing for vintage postcards, and I collect them with Easter, fall, and Christmas designs because I like to decorate with them.

I found these sweet Putz house ornaments at the Christmas Trees Shops.

The mail box is from a new store near us, HomeSense. You can find the same one in silver and other colors on Amazon.

Aren’t these plates the cutest? I found them also at the Christmas Tree Shops. There are four different designs, two with a red truck, and two with a camper.

I kept things simple and mostly neutral.

The mantel is decorated with white, beige, and brown, the tablescape with blush and metallic, and our Christmas tree with blue and metallic colors.

I found those lights with the bells at Target, just like the faux fur Christmas stockings.

Are you wondering what that tiny stocking is doing there? That’s the stocking for Fred — our elf on the shelf. He needed his own stocking.

The tag sale lanterns I keep repurposing — I fill them with leaves and small pumpkins in the fall — are usually on the porch, but with a big bow and some berries, they make for easy decor inside.

I restyled our bookcase and turned all of our books around to show the white pages instead of the colorful book jackets for a more neutral look.

A big theme this year are bottle brush trees again — they are the star of my table setting, and they make such simple decor with a bit of fake snow in mason jars.

I reused a lot of decor I already had, but my favorite new find this year is that blush glass Christmas tree from HomeGoods.

It is the focal point among all the white and silver and gold bottle brush trees. When I found those for $1 and $3 at Target, I bought a ton for this neutral tablescape I had in mind.

The tablerunner is actually a drawer mat from IKEA that I knew would make a cool runner. I secured it with glue dots on the table.

When I came across the paper doilies in my stash of decor, I added them as well, plus three little candles I made out of vintage jello cups.

The only thing that is new here are the winter berries from Trader Joe’s.

I decorated our Christmas tree with three white garlands and blue and metallic ornaments.

I bought a new prelit tree this year, but if you have a real tree and want to make it look bigger and taller, you can check out what I did last year to make a $19 tree look enormous.

I didn’t like the new tree topper I had bought, so I decided to use the blue star with the word “Simplify.”

It fits so much better with the blue ornaments, and it’s a nice reminder to relish the simple things.

I layered two plates, a cake stand, and a pie tin to create this candle holder. That’s a battery operated candle from IKEA – they turn on when you turn them over, and I used a glue dot to attach the deer ornament.
