Do you need more room for supplies in your craft room? Here is how I solved the storage problem we all have when we have a ton of DIY and craft supplies — I repurposed this freebie into a craft room shelf.
Craft Room Shelf Ideas For Extra Storage
I have two fun finds to share with you this week. I haven’t really featured this freebie shelf before that Don brought home a year ago from a job site.
He’s not crazy about me schlepping more furniture into our little cottage, so it was sweet of him to bring it home for me.
I used it on our porch for a while and then moved it into my office for extra storage.
I’m currently redoing the office to be more of a craft room and finally updated the shelf by wiping it down with Restor-A-Finish and using a roll of removable wallpaper from Goodwill to update the back of it.
Easy solution — great impact, right?
I added the white crate to organize all my ribbons and those cute wire baskets for many of my paper items.
This is just the start of the office makeover, there is nothing on the walls yet, and I still need to fix the bottom of the shelf.

Having all of my crafting supplies and little vintage treasures in one room, all organized, is going to be wonderful!
Update: in this post you can see how I decorated the walls with embroidery hops!
Now, you might not have an extra book shelf you can transform into something cute.
You might get lucky finding one at your local thrift store, or you can order an inexpensive one on Amazon.
Here are book shelves that are great for craft rooms:
If I didn’t already have a desk, I would love this craft room shelf solution!
In other news, here is my latest vintage find: a sweet coffee pot with roses from Germany. When I saw it at the Katonah Thrift Store, I thought: “That looks familiar!”
I knew why: I already had a little coffee cup with the same pattern that I made into a candle a while ago, and it was displayed on the shelf in our powder room.
The coffee pot was $10, and I just didn’t want to spring for that — but the next time I was in the thrift store, it was marked half off.
I figured that was a sign that it was supposed to go home with me ;)
