As you might remember, I had to say good-bye to my 18-year-old Honda CRV last year. I loved that car, it had been good to me for all those years, but it was time to upgrade.
I turned around and bought the latest Honda CRV, and our family is enjoying it. It’s nice to not have to worry any longer if the doors will close in the winter, ha!
One thing my old car had that this brand-new car doesn’t have is tinted back windows, and it’s the one feature I miss the most.
I bought the old CRV in Los Angeles, and the first thing I had added was to get the windows darkened to keep out some of the California heat.
When our son Landon was little, it was so nice to have the back windows darkened so he didn’t have to deal with the bright sun in his eyes when he was in his car seat.
Another thing I miss is that our items in the back seats and the trunk now can easily be seen, whereas the darkened windows in my old car deterred people from looking into our car.
It made me feel safer in terms of not getting the car broken into.
I recently learned about an innovative product I would love to install on my car windows: 3M™ Automotive Window Film.
3M™ Automotive Window Film Crystalline Series is a professionally installed window film that provides a solution for heat and UV exposure, and improves the comfort, energy efficiency, and look of any vehicle.
The window film can be used if you’re concerned about excessive heat, want to increased privacy, UV protection, a faded interior, glare or security.
I know and use a lot of 3M products, but I wasn’t aware that 3M invented window films fifty years ago and has spent the past five decades innovating and improving them.
Additionally, the films maintain the appearance of your vehicle – your seat covers and plastic parts won’t fade – and allow you to enjoy the view, while also experiencing increased comfort and protection.
Specifically, the 3M Crystalline Series features a proprietary, multilayer optical film that combines over 200 layers of nano-technology in a film thinner than a Post-it® Note. This technology allows the tint to reject up to 60% of solar energy and 97% of heat-producing infrared rays.
They block up to 99.9% of UV light to provide a total Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of 1000 for drivers and their passengers.
Now, that totally sells me on these window films because I’m very particular about protecting myself and my family from the damaging effects of the sun.
We love to go on long road trips – we recently drove 8 hours to Virginia — and it’s nice to know that we are eliminating sun exposure during the hours we are in the car.
And this technology gets even more impressive: these non-metallized window film lets drivers stay connected with mobile devices, GPS, or satellite radio reception without interference.
