Adding a rustic farmhouse console table to my kitchen was a great move: it added so much storage for many of my pretty vintage dishes I want to display and not hide away in kitchen cabinets.
Rustic Farmhouse Console Table
Welcome to Dagmar’s Home!
Today I’ll show you how you can add a ton of storage to your kitchen.
My son and I are hanging out on the sofa, watching The Pioneer Woman cook applesauce.
I’ve got my laptop on my legs and am typing away — I’m tickled pink to show you what I did yesterday!
I assembled the rustic farmhouse console table I bought for our kitchen months ago.

Here is a very similar one on Amazon:
Here is another really pretty console table that adds a ton of storage:
The table had been sitting in a box on the porch, and I finally had time to put it together.
This is what that corner of the kitchen looked like before:
The table and chair looked pretty, but I’ve been wanting more open shelf space for a while.
It didn’t take long to put the new table/shelf together. I was so excited to fill it with my favorite dishes that I didn’t take a picture when it was empty.
Many of these bowls, plates, and glasses were hidden in my storage room in the back, but I like to have them easily accessible like this. I’d rather display all my vintage treasures.
I love the color of the wood boards, and the rustic metal legs. This console table definitely adds to the farmhouse look I’m going for in my home.
And you can’t beat the price! You know me, I don’t like to spend much money on anything. I’m such a believer that you can decorate a lovely home on a budget, and this is an example.
I found this console table, the matching rolling cart you see in the back, and the white baskets at Kohls.com and bought them with mostly Kohl’s cash and a 30 percent off coupon.
You can order the same cart on Amazon:
When I shop online, I always go through Ebates first, and then to Kohl’s in this case. That saved me another $16.
Can you believe that I only paid $101 for the table, the cart, and set of three white baskets that way? Shipping was free because I have a Kohl’s card.
The shelf and cart go along with the look of these rustic ladder book shelves I have in the living room next to the TV.
I bought four of them. They are so inexpensive and lightweight.
Buying four of them lets me create a whole wall of shelving, or I can put one here or there. I’ve moved so many times in my life, I only buy furniture I can carry myself and that fit into my car. I’m just practical that way.
Right now, I using the two other shelves in my bedroom.
But back to the console table. I’m quite in love with it — I think you can tell from how many pictures I took of it.
It’s going to be fun to decorate it for every season. I already restyled it since I took these pictures.
I almost wish the console table was taller and had one more shelf so I could display even more of my dishes, kind of like this backer’s rack.
What would you display on this rustic farmhouse console table?
