My Thrifty Treasure: Iron Fireplace Mantle

Remember my post about the three barns full of antiques and vintage treasures at the Barn at Sundial Farm? I actually helped out to take care of the store this weekend while Diane and Tim were out of town.

On my first visit I mentioned to them that they should think of me if they ever need help, and sure enough they did for this weekend.

Since I spent hours there for two days, I had time to really get a good look at everything in the barns.

Penny, who owns the Sundial farm with her husband, was giving away apples for free to all the visitors, and also helped me man the store.

And I brought a few of my candles and gift baskets that made a nice addition.

I can’t get over how stunning this huge mirror is, but it is very heavy.

There were so many things I had my eyes on that I took picture so I would remember them. I think these vintage glass bowls are so sweet.

Diane just decided to sell her collection of antique linens she meticulously cleaned and ironed herself. This table cloth is the one I love the most.

…and so is this one, don’t you think?

And I really like these mirrored old windows. We have a few of them in my childhood home.

And finally, this is the treasure I drove home with: it’s an antique iron fireplace mantle. It needs some help, but I just love it.

You know that feeling when you find something special that maybe might not make sense to buy but you know you’ll regret it if you don’t? Yep, this is one of those instances: I bought (actually bartered) a rusty old iron fireplace mantle for $95 and I just know I’ll find the perfect place for it in our home.
