A month ago I took picture during another Saturday visit to Muscoot Farm that I haven’t shared yet.
I got a little crazy with the Instagram filters, but I really like the bold colors of these pictures. Are we following each other on Instragram yet? I’m @DagmarBleasdale on Instagram, and you can also see my pictures here.
We passed by the farmers market because we had come for a walk up to the gazebo.
L wasn’t in the mood for a walk, but eventually got into it.
He’s pretty fearless about climbing.
If you challenge L, he’ll want to win, so I encouraged him to get to the gazebo first.
We reached the gazebo just when two moms with their children walked up to it, and two older boys were into catching grasshoppers. L had never done that and was fascinated, and after fighting a little bit of fear and acquiring the skill to catch the fast grasshoppers, he caught his first one. I caught one as well.
I was pretty proud that he overcame his fear so fast — sometimes peer pressure is a good thing.
Landon loved his grasshopper so much, he kept squeezing him just a bit too much. I was fearing for him. I asked L what his name was, and he named him Hoppy.
L didn’t want to let him go.
And sadly, little Hoppy turned into Limpy when he lost part of his leg and didn’t even want to hop out of L’s hand. So he got a ride on Landon’s T-shirt down the hill.

I’m not sure what happened to Limpy by the time we got down the mountain. L was running down with the boys, way ahead of us, and he must have hopped off of L at that point. Poor Limpy; I felt bad for him. I can’t hurt a fly.
And that’s how unsuspecting Hoppy turned into poor Limpy.
