This picture I took of Landon a few hours ago just fits the day as we are all remembering 9/11 and that terrible day 11 years ago: L was reciting the Pledge of Allegiance when he noticed the flags on the bank building.
Sitting in front of the TV this morning, I had tears running down my face as the names of the people that lost their lives were being read aloud by family members. What a tragedy.
We will never forget.
Where were you on 9/11? I was living in Los Angeles and took my German passport with me everywhere for a month after it. Nobody knew what would happen next, and I wanted to be able to get out of the country if need be. I felt a little more secure having it with me.
Onto more fun things: I posted another big giveaway: want to learn how to decorate like a pro? I’m giving away one free School of Speed Decorating home decorating class by decorator to the stars, Jill Vegas (valued at $149)!
It starts September 17, so enter soon. I’m also taking the class and can’t wait.

I think we can all remember exactly what we were doing on 9/11. I was napping with my one year old when my husband ran into the room to wake us and tell us what was happening. We will never forget.
It was an aweful day for sure…remembering how alone I felt at that moment as I watched it all go down.

I so very much remember exactly how it went that horrid day. We discuss it with the kids often- not just around this time of year. It’s a topic that always seems to be discussed around this house- it is still fresh & raw- and you know, I hope that it always is. So that we never forget to be grateful for the days we have here.
It was such a sad day. :(
I think we do all remember where we were and how we felt. I was in class and all of the professors were letting their students out except ours who said, “Eh, it’s probably nothing.” I wish she had been right.
Great photo. I was in class during 9/11 attacks. I was devastated. My class was international affairs, so of course the professor wanted to talk about it and all I wanted to do was cry.
Perfect picture for today! I was in college and had just gotten back to my dorm to get my roommate for the next class, which we had together. She was in front of the TV in tears, and I just stopped in shock. Our college closed down for the rest of the day, and we were suggested to get off the campus as one of the buildings on campus may be at risk of attack! It was so sad and scary!
I love hearing children recite the pledge of allegiance. It makes me all emotional.
I will never forget where I was when I first heard about 9/11. It was a Tuesday morning. I was six-&-a-half miles from Ground Zero, sitting in my apartment, awaiting the arrival of a friend who never came. Instead, he telephoned me, & told me to turn on my television. That was when life changed for good, for the first time. It has never been the same since.
I hope your friend is okay. It has been an important and sad day for so many people…
Thanks, Dagmar. Yes, he is okay (in fact, better than just okay). & it has indeed been an important & sad day for so many.
I’m living outside the US too but it is hard to forget as well.

On 9/11 (11/9 here in Sydney) it was late, and the shows were interupted for the news of what had happened. They stayed telecasting it all night, and the papers in the work depot the following morning had it as full front page news… Whilst Australia may be far away, we were still very much rattled by the events of that day…
Cute pic of your little man as well…
Mines up as well at AussiePomm – Sydney Olympic Cauldron Alight (again)
Have a great WW!!
I was in upstate NY, my home, watching it all unfold. I was surrounded by fellow college classmates, many of whom had family working in the Towers. Some of them lost loved ones.
It was a day I will never, ever forget. Such tragedy. But I love your photo celebrating the renewal of life and the strength in the fact that the world has gone on with a new resolve.
Perfect picture for today. Remembering and honor + youth and life and happiness.
It was a life altering day the impact of which still affects all Americans and many others around the world.
Eleven years…and it still hurts.
Thanks for hosting and have a great week.
