Making smoothies is one way I get healthy protein and fruit and vegetables into my little son. He helps me make them often, and he doesn’t mind that I add sweet potato powder or a banana to it, even though I can’t get him to eat either of those in any other form.
Silk® soy, almond and coconut milks are perfect choices for your healthy lifestyle. Silk is committed to making the world a healthier place through socially responsible and environmentally sustainable business practices and uses and renewable energy.
Did you know that all of the Silk products are made with non-GMO ingredients? All of their beverages are certified by the Non-GMO Project. Since I try to only feed my family non-GMO food, that makes Silk products ideal for us.

I was inspired by Silk’s interactive Silkology page, which is full of fun drink recipes, to try something new.
I started with their their Straw-Nana Flip recipe:
- 1 cup Silk soymilk or almond milk (I used almond)
- 1 Tbsp sweetener of choice (I used a pack of Xylitol)
- 1 banana
- 1 cup diced frozen strawberries (I used organic mixed berries)
and then I added my own spin:
- 1 tsp of organic hemp powder (excellent source of fiber, protein, and iron)
- 1 kiwi
- 1 packages of dry baby food (peas)
I always add baby food to my smoothies because it’s so easy to add vegetables that way. I usually add one of those pouches with fruit and vegetables, but I happened to have a sample of dry baby food that added even more green to this drink.
Voila! In a minute I had a super-healthy drink:
Almond Milk-Berry-Banana-Green-Power Smoothie

This drink, served in small Ball or vintage glasses I have a lot of, would be a hit at any summertime gathering.
The Bleasdale Clan is very large and we don’t need a special reason to get together. We usually see each other at least once a week, and this drink would be a great “snack” when the kids are starting to ask when dinner is ready, or as a healthy desert alternative.
I find that you can’t really make a bad-tasting smoothie, so just take a look at the Silkology Facebook page for recipe inspiration and have fun experimenting! And I’ll tell you, if you have a picky eater, he or she will love being a part of making the drink and much more interested in trying it.
