I was just stalking one of my favorite lactivism blogs, PhD in Parenting, and found this (yes, at 1 in the morning):
National Breastfeeding Month: Whip ‘Em Out! Video With Many Celebrity Moms Endorsing Breastfeeding
Please share this video with others to encourage more women to try breastfeeding, to let them know that it is a learned skill and often doesn’t come easily, to make breastfeeding the norm, to educate people about the many health benefits of breastfeeding for mom and baby, and to make nursing in public (NIP) a more common sight.

Yeah, have to mention that it may hurt. And its not only because of an incorrect latch. There’s a difference in the pain of an incorrect latch and other pains that may occur. 3 babies breastfed, I know several pains. BUT. The benefits and happiness of breastfeeding WAY outweigh the pain. Its all about adapting to it, learning and practicing. It may be natural, but its something that, your first time, you haven’t done before. So natural or not, there’s a learning curve and a feeling curve and a getting comfortable with it curve. LOVE the video clip.
Not really a fan of how this video begins (with all the names for your breasts, come on, are we really 13 years old?) or the emphasis on it being hard to do (it comes naturally with no problems for many many women) or that it hurts (if it is hurting, the latch is wrong, come on, that’s Breastfeeding 101), but I do like that they listed all the pros to breastfeeding, I think that is so important and vital. People are very much influenced by celebrities, and though these are really B- and C-list celebrities, people will still probably listen to what they have to say. So… all in all, I’ll be tweeting this link. Thanks!
Allison, thank you for your comment. I have to disagree, breastfeeding does NOT come easily for most moms, that’s why most moms give up within the first few days and weeks, and most moms do NOT realize that their pain and problems come from an incorrect latch. Glad you know that, though :)
Love it. Love breastfeeding, too. :)
