Not Me! Monday — Blue Cupcakes and Snow

by Dagmar on January 4, 2010

I did not bake these unhealthy cupcakes with Landon and his cousins the other day. I would never feed my child refined sugar, bleached flour, hydrogenated oil, a stick of butter, and blue #1. Just ignore the cute pictures and the video that appeared here a few days ago. That was not me who posted them.

I did not gain 5 pounds in the last few months. No, not me! Okay, I did. I think it started with me buying a whole box of Snickers bars at BJ’s. I did the math and figured out that they were only about 80 cents a piece, so frugal me could not pass them up. Don and I buy one or so a week anyway, because we just love them, so why not buy them for less than a buck?

Once I got them home, I realized that these were the larger Snickers bars, the king-size ones where the package actually holds two pieces. On one hand I was exited — I got an even better deal than I thought! — but since they were in the house, I could not make it through a day without eating a whole bar (yes, the two pieces). Twenty bars disappeared in less than 20 days, with the help of Don. And all went downhill from there. Let’s not talk about it anymore . . .

(Don just read this post and he wants to make sure you don’t think he ate half of the Snickers bars. That’s true, if he was lucky he got his hands on four — I inhaled them way too fast :)

I certainly did not drag Landon out of the house even though it had started to snow heavily, only to make it to his preschool the minute they decided they have to close because of all the snow. I was so proud of myself, taking on the elements in my trusty Honda CRV. Instead of being rewarded for that feat, we had to slip and slide back home. We made it just fine, but that’s the last time I try to venture out in that kind of weather with a three-year-old.

I love this post! It almost reads like a children’s book with the repetition of It was not me. Very funny.

For me, it would be It was not me eating Nutella right out of the jar this afternoon, triple dipping and keeping the jar away from the outreached hands of my kids!

I certainly won’t be trying those delicious looking cupcakes this week.Hope you enjoy the snow, we only had a sprinkling a few days before Christmas but it was enough to get the kids excited.Wishing you and your family a very happy new year and all the best for 2010.

That is so funny. My husband has to hide the chocolate in our house because it will be gone in 5 minutes if I find it. Once I found a bag of M&M’s and he had put duct tape all over it to keep me out!
I love your posts, Dagmar. You write about real life and mom’s can really relate.

Those cupcakes look So yummy! I would love to have one right now.
I did not make chocolate chip cookies with my girls the other day, all of that sugar, who would do that!

I’ll have to hop over and check Not me Monday. Sounds like fun.

I like this, not me…..Mike was, wasn’t me all the time…can’t be anyone else, only one kid lives here.
It wasn’t me that last week ate part of a jar of peanut butter with a spoon. It wasn’t me that woke up a sleeping son because she needed a hug really bad and then made him stay awake a bit longer just to chatter. It wasn’t me that ………oh I think you’ve heard enough. But I sure do like the not me stuff. Gonna head over and see some more of these. Thank you for sharing.
God Bless.
