I did it to my son at 5 months old and he was almost bald then. I'm going to do it again soon, I'd shave it! It'll grow back....stronger and thicker. And then when it did grow in, it grew in just like your little guy's. Long in the back only, aka mullet. We just snipped off the back stuff. He has blond curls all over the place ... he's 20 months ... and I have no intention of cutting it!!!
