Rebuilding My Blog, New Canon PowerShot, and Earth Day

by Dagmar on April 20, 2009

I rebuilt my blog so it can also be viewed with Firefox, as best as I can. I am realizing the limitations of this template, and I am in the process of changing everything. Stay tuned…

Don, Landon, and I went to Kensico Dam for an Earth Day festival today. It was smaller than I had anticipated, but Don made some great contacts with green companies and a nonprofit that might lead him in the right direction for his new career. We had a lot of fun.

Landon was such a great sport, strapped in the stroller for most of the time. After that he ran around like a little crazy person and literally fell asleep on the doormat at home! Here is the proof:

Good thing I just vacuumed… I took these pictures with my new camera, a Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS. I love it! I can’t wait to really get into all the things I can do with it. My old camera, which I have had for ten years or so, is an Olympus Stylus 300. I love it because it has a great lense cover, but it only has 3.2 Megapixels, and it soo was time to upgrade! The SD1100 IS is last year’s model, Canon already launched the SD1200, but I didn’t want to pay another $80 and I am very happy with 8 Megapixels. I am exited to share new pictures with you soon.

Love the pictures! I’ve got Canon too and love my camera to pieces!

P.S. I use Firefox and have no problems viewing the site!

I have a slightly older Canon, the SD 1000. It is actually the third one that I’ve had.

There is a neat program that you can get, if you’re really geeky, called the Canon Hackers Development Kit or CHDK.

You install it on the SD card for your camera, and you get all kinds of interesting new features. I run it on my camera, and have a blog post about it at

If you try it out, let me know what you think.

Toddlers are really one large ball of energy! But it’s nice to know that once in a while they go low batt… :)
